MLB All-Star Game’s Social Media Success [INFOGRAPHIC]


Before Tuesday’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game, MLB officials hyped it as “one of the most social events in baseball history.”

They weren’t lying.

The event drew more than 800,000 comments from nearly 440,000 users across social media platforms, according to data from the social TV analytics company Bluefin Labs. The game’s first inning alone sparked more conversation than the entire 2011 game did, and the overall chatter was amplified 3.6 times over last year. San Francisco Giants accounted for the game’s two most buzz-worthy moments with a Pablo Sandoval triple and Melky Cabrera home run sparking around 8,000 comments per minute.
