LaTroy Hawkins Agrees With Rockies On 1-Year Deal

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Veteran reliever LaTroy Hawkins won’t be returning to the New York Mets next season.

WFAN and baseball insider Jon Heyman confirms Hawkins has reached an agreement with the Colorado Rockies on a one-year deal — with an option for 2015 — worth $2.5 million.

Hawkins, one month shy of 41, will serve as the Rockies’ closer, Heyman reported.


Hawkins went 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA and 13 saves in 72 appearances for the Mets in 2013. The journeyman was a member of the Rockies team that went to the World Series in 2007.

Colorado “blew away” New York’s offer, the New York Daily News reported.
