NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Shawn “Jay Z” Carter reportedly held a “secret meeting” with the Mets on Monday to discuss the blueprint for free agent Robinson Cano, according to the New York Post.
Jay Z and Cano’s representatives from Roc Nation Sports and CAA — Brodie Van Wagenen and Juan Perez — talked about the second baseman over dinner Monday at a Manhattan hotel with Mets general manager Sandy Alderson, COO Jeff Wilpon and assistant GM John Ricco, the Post reported.
It’d be hard to imagine the Mets seriously pursuing a player who reportedly hasn’t budged from his asking price of more than $300 million over 10 years. Alderson said just last week that the club wasn’t expected to make any offers in the neighborhood of $100 million.
